Showcasing Practical Learning Year 5 Autumn - British Values
Through their learning of the Ancient Greeks, the children gained the knowledge of how different societies chose to be governed throughout history, including the introduction of democracy from the Athenians. In order to demonstrate their understanding, Year 5 were divided into small groups and had to create their own political party promoting either Athens or Sparta and their way of life. Once they had produced their visual media to support their campaign, each group presented their manifesto during a debate where the audience was invited to participate in a question-and-answer session. After all groups had presented, the audience took part in a secret ballot before the votes were counted and the winning party was elected.
