Showcasing Practical Learning Year 5 Autumn - Art
As part of our Ancient Greece topic the children were tasked with producing a detailed drawing of the Parthenon whilst considering how they could make it life-like. Initially, Year 5 explored the grounds of the school and practised gauging proportions, perspective and scale when looking at buildings in the distance. This helped them accurately visualise and compare sizes, distances and angles relative to the subject of their drawing. Whilst following a step-by-step process, we considered how to use shadowing to create an effective tone that had an impact on the visual texture of the final piece, which made it more realistic and created the illusion of a three-dimension building.
